I’ve been pretty quiet around these parts lately. My posts have dwindled from a few a week to one or two a month. It’s not because I’m getting bored of traveling or blogging; quite the contrary. My little blog is entering a new phase with the first GnomeTrotting book.
I’ve had some down time between trips, so I’ve spent the past couple of months putting together a comprehensive travel guide. Traveling More & Traveling Better is a compilation of all my best travel advice. If you’re a long-time reader, you’ll recognize some of my tips and tricks. If you’re not, this is a perfect way to become one! I’ll show you how to find travel deals so you can travel more often. You’ll learn about common travel scams and how to avoid them. Hopefully you’ll also heed my advice about becoming a less obnoxious traveler for all of our sakes. The book is full of information and inspiration to get you out there in the world. I’m proud of how it looks so far, and I’m excited to authoritatively use an ampersand in a title. I can’t wait for you guys to see it!
When can you expect the first GnomeTrotting book and when will I be back here blogging full-time? I’m not sure yet… Long-form non-fiction is a real bitch to organize and write, and you never quite know when you’re done. So it’s still a work in progress though I’ve been through enough rounds of edits and revisions to say that it’s in the finishing touches stage. Could be by the end of the year, but I like to have relaxing holidays, so I’m not pushing myself too hard.
This doesn’t mean I’m done with blogging. If anything, trying to organize almost 65,000 words of advice has only made me miss the fun and simplicity of a quick blog post. While I wrap up the book, I’m getting ready for the roaring 20s by planning some exciting trips for the coming year. So I’ll be back here more consistently with new destination guides soon.
In the meantime, feel free to enjoy my old posts. After a few months, it’ll feel like you’re reading them for the first time. You can also check out my collection of short stories, Savage, to tide you over until Traveling More & Traveling Better is released.
Ta ta for now, Gnometrotters.
