The best dates last all day long. And Los Angeles is the perfect place to keep you and your date entertained for hours.
Start with a hike
Physical activity is the best way to kick-start a day of romance. It gets your blood pumping, making you feel more energized, excited, and amorous. And what’s better than a hike with a view? At LA’s Runyon Canyon, you can get a great view of the sprawling city down below and the Hollywood sign. With the exception of the occasional jogger or people walking their dogs, it’s a calm place where you can get lost in conversation and steal a few kisses as you enjoy your view of the Hollywood hills.
A Sightseeing Alternative
Even if you live in LA, there are some local attractions that are worth appreciating every so often. And Griffith Observatory is one of them. You can visit the inside of the observatory building free of charge. This includes access to the telescopes. So if you want to save this for last, you could end your night with some stargazing. But even during the day, the grounds provide a great view of the city.
It’s a 20-minute drive from Runyon Canyon (which is the minimum distance between any two points in LA). So if you’re feeling ambitious, you can just do both.
Do lunch!
You’ve hiked the Hollywood hills, enjoyed the view, and kissed passionately like Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land. Surely, you’ve worked up an appetite.
Skip the overrated high-end eateries in the Grove and Hollywood Boulevard and head downtown. Sushi is a good option, because is there anything sexier than sushi? (No, there isn’t.) Try Sushi Enya or Hama Sushi in Little Tokyo.
Get your drink on, but keep it classy
You don’t have to go all the way to wine country to enjoy some good wine in LA. The San Antonio Winery is just outside of Chinatown, which makes it a great afternoon activity after a good meal. Though their vineyards are not located here, you can still learn a little bit about the history of their wines and wine-making in general. They offer tours of their facilities every day of the week until 4 pm on weekdays and until 5 pm on weekends. You can combine that with a tasting before heading on your way. Their selection of wines will make you feel nice and toasty.
Cap off your date with a little bit of art
The San Antonio Winery is just a couple of miles away from the Arts District, where you can stroll through LA’s most popular galleries. Unless you’re there for a special event, like Art Walk, most galleries close at 5 or 6 pm. But the LA Arts District is full of street art, so you won’t run out of interesting things to see while you walk around. You can also check out the Broad, the city’s newest contemporary art museum, which is open until 8 pm on weekends. The museum is free but admission is limited. You can book advance tickets through their website or get in the standby line. Check their Twitter for wait times.
The Arts District is also home to plenty of bars and restaurants where you can keep your buzz going or grab another bite to eat. You can split a few appetizers at the arty Manuela, which doubles as a gallery, or have a few beers at Angel City Brewery.
At the end of the date, you’ll have showcased the fact that you’re active, cultured, and have good taste. So whether you’re out with a significant other or just getting to know someone, you’ll have a 90% chance of getting laid.
