Cross the Chain Bridge
Walking across the Chain Bridge is a must for any visitor, and it’s totally doable with a dog. The bridge offers spectacular views of both Buda and Pest, and dogs enjoy the fresh air. The walking path is separated from the traffic on the bridge so it’s an easy bridge to cross if you have a dog that is skittish about cars. Just be mindful of crowds during peak hours.
Walk around Fisherman’s Bastion
Though your dog can’t go inside Matthias Church or other ticketed areas, the terraces and stairways around Fisherman’s Bastion are mostly outdoors, which makes it dog-friendly. Leashed dogs can enjoy wandering the winding paths while you take in panoramic city views. Early mornings or evenings are best to avoid heavy tourist traffic.
Take a sightseeing cruise

At the entrance of the park, you’ll find Heroes’ Square, which features towering statues of Hungary’s leaders. You can also walk around the grounds of Vajdahumyad Castle. Wide paths, open lawns, and shady trees make City Park perfect for a longer walk or an afternoon picnic. There are plenty of spots to sit and rest while your dog explores the surroundings.
Dog-friendly restaurants in Budapest
Dogs are commonly welcome at outdoor cafe terraces, casual restaurants and and small cafes. You can even visit some of Budapest’s famous ruin bars with dogs. Sitting with a dog inside is hit or miss. Some places won’t be so happy to allow them inside, so it’s courteous to ask first. Here are some good options:
